Question:
Tahsina Hajj I have a question about my period. I last had my period 3/3/24-10/3/24. I have had a copper coil fitted on 23-3-24 after this I was told to expect heavier and possibly longer periods. I wore a pad around the days of the fitting and made wudhu before every salah as I sometimes saw reddish coloured discharge when I went to the toilet this cleared up totally by 26th. I saw a blood smear on 28-03-24 at 9pm so I didn’t pray isha or following day fajr but since I had no period symptoms and saw nothing else on sanitary cloth; I started praying again from zuhr (of 29th). Then last night (31/3/24) at 4:30 I saw blood and had painful cramps so I didn’t pray fajr or make intention to fast. This morning I haven’t seen anymore blood other than one spot and I no longer have pains so unsure if I should wait to see if I bleed more or if I just start praying again. *All dates of blood/spotting/coloured discharge must be included within the dates. If not, the answer may be incorrect.* 2023 Nov 20-26 Dec 27- 2024 Jan 5 Jan 27- Feb 4 March 3-10 March 23- continues on 8 April

📝 Answer:

The bleeding and purity (tuh’r) has been in the following sequence:

20 November to 26 November, a total of 6 days of period.

31 days of purity (tuh’r)

27 December to 5 January, a total of 9 days of period.

22 days of purity (tuh’r)

27 January to 4 February, a total of 8 days of period.

28 days of purity (tuh’r)

36 days of continued bleeding from 3 March to 8 April (since you haven’t had 15 or more blood-free days at a stretch in there)

➖➖➖➖

✍️ Solution:

♦️ 3 March to 11 March, a total of 8 days of period.

🔸 11 March to 8 April, a total of 28 days of definitive purity (istehadha).

▪ If you performed ghusl on 11 March, salah after it are all valid. If you didn't, then make qada of all the salah until you took ghusl.

▪ If you left any salah thinking of it as haidh and it turned out to be istehadha, then make qada of them.

➖➖➖➖

❄️ Habit: 8 days/28 days

You are in the days of your period right now, so, if bleeding continues you cannot do any of your ritual worship.

If bleeding stops before 11 April (3 days), and is followed by a 15 day or more period of purity, then all of this will become istehadha.

If bleeding continues till 16 April, then you must do ghusl on 16 April and begin ibadaat.

If the bleeding stops before 16 April then take ghusl immediately and start saying your prayers but take ghusl on 16 April too to be on the safe side.

If the questioner is married, then she should keep this in mind as well:

Even if the bleeding stops and she performs ghusl and resumes salah, intimacy with husband remains prohibited till 16 April.

Kindly, keep note of the bleeding/spotting with month, date and time.

And Allah Ta’ala knows best.

Solution:

3rd Mar to 11th Mar, a total of 8b of period.

11th Mar to 8th Apr, a total of 28p of definitive invalid purity (istihada).

If you performed ghusl on 11th Mar, salat after it are all valid. If you didn't, then make qada of all the salat until you took ghusl.

If you left any salat thinking of it as hayd and it turned out to be istihada, then make qada of them.

Habit: 8b/28p

You are in the days of your hayd right now, so, if bleeding continues you cannot do any of your ritual worship.

If its less than 3 days and nights, it will all be istihada.

If bleeding continues till 16th Apr, then you must do ghusl on 16th Apr and begin ibadaat.
